Lebanon’s Ad-Diyar newspaper said in a report on Sunday that the military exercises carried out by Hezbollah was a first of its kind as the group allowed Lebanese and international media outlets to cover the event.
It said certain weapons and equipment were displayed in the drills.
The newspaper quoted some political informed sources as saying that the exercises were meant to convey a signal to political and military actors inside and outside of Lebanon.
They said that in light of the current regional developments, including the rapprochement between Iran and Saudi Arabia as well as the return of Syria to the Arab League and resumption of ties between Damascus and other Arab countries, Hezbollah's staging of the drills indicate that the group will continue to improve its capabilities and potentials.
The sources said the drills also showed that Iran will not change it policy of providing full support to Hezbollah.
According to the sources, the most obvious message of the maneuver was for the Zionist enemy as it showcased the military might and preparedness of Hezbollah.
