Khorramabad, IRNA – The steam unit of a combined cycle power plant in the western Iranian city of Khorramabad has come on line.

The power plant unit was opened on Sunday with a capacity of generating 160 megawatts of electricity.

Iran's Bonyad Mostazafan, a major charitable foundation in the country, has invested as much as 76 trillion rials ($152 million) and another 310 million euros on the project.

The launch of the steam unit creates 525 new jobs in Iran's Lorestan region and leads to a 50% increase in electricity output of Khorramabad power plant.
