Tehran, IRNA – CEO of Iran's National Petrochemical Company (NPC) says the country's annual capacity for production of petrochemicals will reach 95 million metric tons (mt) by the end of the current Iranian calendar year, up from a current figure of 92 million mt.

Speeaking in a press conference on Monday, Morteza Shahmirzaie said that Iran will launch 10 new petrochemical projects in the year to late March.

Shahmirzaie added that some 70 petrochemical production complexes in Iran currently produce 550 types of polymer and chemical products.

He said that availability of feedstock is regarded as the most important advantage of investing in Iran's petrochemical industry.

The comments came as the NPC prepares to hold the 14th edition of Iran Petrochemical Forum (IPF) at the IRIB International Conference Hall on May 1-2.
