Lavrov made the remarks amid a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amirabdollahian in the Russian capital Moscow, saying that the mutual ties and exchanges in political, trade, investment, and economic fields, as well as the implementation of key projects, have increased.
In terms of joint economic cooperation, the interactions have experienced sustainable growth, he said, noting that both states pursue close collaborations concerning regional and international affairs and that today Russia puts all these issues on the agenda.
Lavrov felicitated the New Year (Nowruz) and the holy month of Ramadan, expressing hope that he would have fruitful and effective negotiations with his Iranian counterpart.
Amirabdollahian arrived in Moscow on Tuesday night to discuss issues of mutual interest.
