Managua, IRNA – Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has met with President of the National Assembly of Nicaragua Gustavo Porras Cortés.

According to an IRNA correspondent in Nicaraguan capital Managua, the Iranian top diplomat addressed the national assembly president and said that we are happy to have the opportunity to meet your colleagues today and that we experience the celebrations of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, which occurred concurrent with the revolution in Nicaragua.

The geographical distance between the two countries is too far, but our hearts are close and we enjoy numerous commonalities, Amirabdollahian said, adding that "we witness many agreements between the two countries reached yesterday and today, which need support by parliaments of both nations".

The Nicaraguan National Assembly president, for his part, underscored that "our brotherly relationship has formed since 1979, which was a glorious year, when our revolutions bore fruit".
