Iran stands against US excessive demands: FM Amirabdollahian

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has underlined that the Iranian nation has stood against the United States’ excessive demands endlessly and that the Islamic nation has achieved significant progress.

The Iranian foreign minister made the remarks in a meeting with Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega in Managua on Thursday night, the US-imposed sanctions created big problems for Iran, but it goes ahead in the path of development by relying on its domestic capabilities in scientific and other sectors.

The guidelines of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution as well as the active role played by women and youths help the country be one of the developed states in the world, he added.

Former US president Donald Trump made all-out efforts to impose sanctions on Iran’s oil export and claimed that he wanted to stop the export totally, but the Iranians succeeded in nullifying the embargo, he noted.

However, the American authorities pursue negotiation with Iran, but as you mentioned what is the objective of the US in pursuing talks with independent states, the FM said, arguing that Iran has never escaped negotiations with other countries and it follows up its national interests in this respect.

Iran sees no limitation in the expansion of ties with friendly countries in line with maintaining the development and independence of the Islamic country, the minister said, noting that the Iranian side has reached consensus with the Nicaraguan economic team.

As to the anniversaries of the victory of revolutions in Nicaragua and Iran, the top diplomat noted that the name of the Latin American country implies independence and freedom-seeking in the minds of the Iranians, because Nicaragua has stood and is standing against imperialism.

Nicaraguan president, for his part, welcomed Amirabdollahian and his entourages, offering greetings to the Iranian nation and the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Ortega also emphasized that the two countries had a common enemy; so, both nations fought the common foe in the same year (1979) and succeeded in defeating it.

The enemies of international peace and tranquility have maintained their imperialistic policies and they want to turn the whole world as their backyard; so, they resorted to wars and crimes in the guise of democracy, he added.

According to the president, Europe and the US initiated horror campaigns and imposed sanctions on Iran and Venezuela, including threatening Iranian oil tankers in the way to Venezuela, but the Iranian government did not back down and it steadfastly continued its friendly collaborations with Venezuela.

Ortega went on to say that the future is bright, because the domination of imperialism will not last more, and that new forces are emerging in the world to enhance the international relations.

Global imperialism produces atomic bombs very well, but we do not want nukes, he said, noting that Iran has time and again announced that it does not seek any nuclear weapon.

During his one-day stay in Nicaragua, Amirabdollahian visited a refinery and addressed correspondents as saying that fortunately Nicaragua is on the pace of progress and we have got good report of sustainable development in the Latin American country.

The both countries have reached good agreements in economic, trade and energy fields, the Iranian FM mentioned.
