Tehran, IRNA – People of Mosul, the capital of Nineveh Province in northwestern Iraq, held a commemoration ceremony on the third anniversary of the martyrdom of Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps and Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes, the former commander of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU).

According to Arab media, the event was held with participation of a large number of Iraqis from different walks of life.

The participants in the event lit candles to commemorate General Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes's sacrifices.

They emphasized that they will continue the path of these martyrs.

US terrorists assassinated General Soleimani, the commander of the Qods Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), and Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes, the former commander of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), along with their companions by targeting their vehicles outside Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020, at the direct order from then US President Donald Trump.
