Tehran, IRNA – The third Tehran Dialogue Forum (TDF 2022) was a good opportunity to promote peace discourse, help regional countries get rid of Iranophobic sentiments, and pursue region-oriented policy-making.

The third Tehran Dialogue Forum under the title of “Neighborhood Policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran: An Approach to Friendship and Trust” showed that the Iranian government especially the administration of President Ebrahim Raisi focuses on good neighborliness, friendship, and confidence-building in the region.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran organized the TDF 2022, which was held in the capital Tehran on December 19.

Former Prime minister of Iraq Adil Abdul-Mahdi, President of Nicaragua Daniel Ortega, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, and Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Kamal Kharazi were the speakers of the opening ceremony of the forum.

Different pundits and thinkers from around the globe made their speeches at the event to express their views on issues such as energy security, the Ukraine crisis, and the situation in Afghanistan.

The main topics highlighted in the TDF 2022 included regional security and its requirements, the crisis in Ukraine and its realities, as well as Afghanistan and the importance of consolidation of peace,

Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian emphasized that the Islamic Republic sees the security and welfare of the neighboring states as its own safety and well-being and has always been one of the pillars of security and stability in the region as well as the frontrunner in fighting Daesh terrorism.

Kharazi pointed to the war in Ukraine, noting that Iran has opposed the fanning of the flame of disputes between Russia and Ukraine, but the West tried to push these two neighboring states towards a new conflict because the eastward movement of NATO forced Moscow to react; however, the war should end via dialogue, and Iran is ready to pave the way for the talks.

On Afghanistan, Amirabdollahian argued that Iran has been hosting Afghan refugees over the last 1.5 years, while the Iranians have been suffering from severe sanctions, and that Tehran believes the best way to restore sustainable stability and security in Afghanistan would be the formation of an inclusive government with the participation of Afghan people.

Iranophobia has been pursued by the West over the last four decades, but the Islamic Republic is determined to continue all-out efforts to improve ties with other nations in particular with regional countries.
