Tehran, IRNA – An official in the Palestine Scholars Association (PSA) said that Hamas’ decision to resume ties with Syria is beneficial and unites the Axis of Resistance and worries Israel.

In an interview with the Palestinian news agency Shahab on Saturday, Ziad Miqdad, head of the Fatwa Department of the PSA, said that the enemies are united against interests, sanctities, faith, and religion of Palestinians, asking why the Axis of Resistance not unite while they have many commonalities.

Miqdad said that a part of Syria is under occupation and Quds and al-Aqsa Mosque do not only belong to the Palestinian nation, but they belong to all Muslims and this is the reality that should unite all groups of the Axis of Resistance.

He said that the relationship between states, movements, and groups are subject to faith, brotherhood, language, and religion and these exist between Hamas and Syria.

Hamas' decision worries Israel, he noted, because the Zionist regime does not want to see any two Muslim states or groups united against it, as it would weaken the regime’s position.

Hamas announced on Thursday that they would resume ties with Syria, praising Syria’s support for Palestine and its cause.
