President Raisi met and held talks with Putin on the sidelines of the heads of states' sixth summit of the Caspian Sea Littoral States in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
President Raisi said that after he visited Russia, several mutual trips have been made by the two side’s authorities to pursue the agreements of the two states, adding that the process of implementing the agreements is at a desirable pace.
Stressing the need for the two states to support the strengthening of the North-South Corridor, the President highlighted that Iran and Russia have appropriate capacities to cooperate in energy fields, including swaps.
Emphasizing that the mechanisms needed to strengthen Iran-Russia banking and monetary relations should be regularly strengthened, he reiterated that financial exchanges between the two states should be expanded within a framework independent of the Western financial exchange system so that no country can exert influence and pressure on it.
President Putin, for his part, expressed his pleasure to meet President Raisi again in Turkmenistan by holding the sixth Caspian Summit, noted that in recent months, the volume of trade and economic relations between the two states has increased well that this path should continue.
He welcomed Raisi’s proposal to enhance cooperation between the two countries in energy fields, including swaps.
Raisi was officially invited by Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimohamedow to attend the 6th Caspian Summit.
Earlier, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi separately met and held talks with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev and Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedow in Ashgabat.
The sixth summit of the Caspian Sea Littoral States in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan ended intending to review the legal regime of the sea as well as expand economic and transit relations.
