Tehran, IRNA – President Ebrahim Raisi appreciated Pakistani government and army’s cooperation in improving security conditions of the two countries’ shared borders.

President Raisi made the remarks in a meeting with the Head of the Pakistan Armed Joint Chief of Staff Brigadier General Nadim Reza.

"The amicable relations between the two countries’ armed forces has led to the provision of appropriate security conditions along the two countries’ shared borders," the Iranian president said.

The Iranian president appreciated the close cooperation of the Pakistani government and armed forces in remarkable improvement of the common border security.

Referring to the issue of the US presence in the region, President Raisi said that two decades of US armed forces presence in Afghanistan bore no fruit, but death and destruction for that country.

"Now it is necessary that the Taliban will establish an all-inclusive government in Afghanistan, inclusive of the entire Afghan tribes and groups, to restore peace and stability in that country, and provide for its development and advancement,” he added.

The head of the Pakistani Armed Forces Joint Chief of Staff, for his part, said in the meeting that he has always believed Iran-Pakistan friendship is quite intimate.

"Numerous visits of Pakistani officials of Iran during the course of the past month is witness to our will to expand comprehensive relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran," he added.
