The international Yasar Dogu Cup is being held in Istanbul on February 25-27, which is the first ranking step for the 2022 World Wrestling Championships.
Mohammad-Hosseing Mohammadian, a member of the Iranian freestyle team in the competition defeated Magomedserul Rahimov of Uzbekistan 11-0 in the first round of the 97kg weight category. In the second round, he defeated Kazakhstan's Mammad Ibragimov 16-4 to advance to the semifinals.
At this stage, with a result of 10 to 0, he defeated Mustafa Sessiz of Turkey and advanced to the final match.
In the final match in a close wrestling match, Mohammadian defeated Alikhan Jabrailov, the world bronze medalist and European champion, with a result of 4-3 and won the gold medal.
According to the schedule, competitions in the weights of 97 and 125 kg were held on Saturday (yesterday), and competitions in the weights of 57, 61, 65, 70, 74, 79, 86 and 92 kg will be held on Sunday (today).
The first ranking tournament of the Yaşar Doğu Cup is being held in Turkey's Istanbul city on February 25-27. The second ranking event is planned to be held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on June 2-5.
Italy's Matteo Pellicone will host the third ranking tournament on June 22-26. The last ranking competition will be held in African country of Tunisia July 14-17.
