The Supreme Leader addressed the people of Tabriz via video link on Thursday on the occasion of the 1978 uprising of the people of Tabriz.
He said that the February 18, 1978 uprising in Tabriz was the continuation of uprising of people of Qom that had taken place 40 days earlier and that the move caused the Islamic Revolution to bear fruit.
The uprising consolidated the tradition of the 40-day commemoration of martyrs of the Islamic Revolution, he underlined.
The Supreme Leader also emphasized that the Islamic Revolution triumphed neither by gun and political game nor by partisanship, but through the presence of people.
Ayatollah Khamenei stated that the Azarbaijan region in Iran has been the driver of national unity and resistance since three-four centuries ago.
