Tehran, IRNA – The name of "A Hero" by Iranian director Asghar Farhadi is included in the preliminary list for the 2022 Oscar Nominations slated for March, 2022.

From across the world, 92 countries had been eligible to contest at the Oscars International Feature, and finally, 15 films were put on the preliminary list of nominees, according to the American media company of Variety on Tuesday.

"A Hero" by Farhadi is not the only work by an Iranian director that had been put on the Oscars list; "The Musician" is another one directed by Reza Riahi which could enter the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film.

The Musician has been selected among 15 out of 82 films.

The final list of nominations for the 94th Academy Awards will be revealed on February 8, 2022.

And, March 27 is slated for presenting the awards.

To go back to the history of Iran's presence in Oscars, it is good to refer to first, "Children of Heaven" by Majid Majidi which was nominated for Oscars in 1998, and later two movies directed by Asghar Farhadi, namely "A Separation" and "The Salesman", which won the Academy Award for the Best Foreign Language Film in 2011 and 2016 respectively.

Also, "Finding Farideh" by Azadeh Mousavi and Kourosh Ataei was the first Iranian documentary introduced to the 2020 Academy Awards.
