Iran's Farhadi grabs Variety’s Creative Impact Awards

Tehran, IRNA - The 2021 Creative Impact Award has been granted to Iranian famous film maker Asghar Farhadi.

"Farhadi is no stranger to the American awards scene. The helmer’s previous films, 2011’s 'A Separation' and 2016’s 'The Salesman' won the foreign-language Oscar and 2021’s 'A Hero' seems to be on the same trajectory," the Variety reported in its official website.

"Farhadi’s films seem to center on the everyman struggling with everyday issues. When the film premiered at Cannes, he told Variety that he was fascinated by people who seem to be put on a pedestal and then torn down," it added.

“In Iran you get stories about very average people who in their daily lives do something that is very altruistic. And that humane way of being makes them very noticeable in society for a few days, and then they are forgotten. The story of the rise and fall of these kinds of people was really what interested me,” Farhadi was quoted as saying.

“I’m so honored to receive this award from Variety,” he said.

Farhadi won his first Oscar for the best foreign-language film for his 2011 drama 'A Separation'. He triumphed again, in the same category in 2016 with 'The Salesman'.
