Islamabad, IRNA -- Deputy Amir of Pakistan’s top Islamic party says seizure of the US Embassy in Tehran in 1979 was a courageous act, adding that other nations should learn from the brave Iranian nation how to resist the pressure of imperialist forces.

Liaqat Baloch of Jamaat-e-Islami in an interview with IRNA said before the victory of the Islamic Revolution Iranian Shah was the only representative of the US in the region who always forwarded the American policies against the aspirations of his own people.

“At that time Imam Khomeini (RA) led his nation and toppled the authoritarian regime of Shah through an Islamic Revolution with the support of Iranian nation," he said.

"He taught aggressors that people's will is the supreme and their rights should be protected," Baloch added.

He went on to say that the US fully backed Shah by all means against the Islamic Revolution and the Shah used all kinds of aggressive measures against his people to stop them from pursuing the true path.

Expressing his views, the JI leader said the seizure of the US Embassy in Tehran in 1979 was a natural reaction of the Iranian nation as it was the symbol of imperialist forces in the region.

"The embassy was captured by the brave Iranian people who had deep faith in Islam and showed to the world and imperialist forces that they will not bow to the American pressure," he noted.

The politician said the incident proved that the US is not the owner of the world rather the peoples’ will was supreme.

He said that the recent developments in Afghanistan have revived the true spirit of the Islamic Revolution, adding that the people of Afghanistan should learn from the brave Iranian nation how to resist the pressure of imperialist forces.

Liaqat Baloch went on to say it is proved in history that people cannot be made slaves through arrogance and weapons.

He said that Muslims have to shun their differences and follow the path of unity to undermine all conspiracies against them.

He strongly believed that unity is the key to the success of Muslims.

Aban 13 marks the seizure of the US Embassy in Tehran in 1979 and is a national day in the Islamic Revolution. Today is also known as the Student Day in Iran, marking the National Day of Protest against Global Arrogance.

Every year on this day, some rallies are held all over Iran to commemorate those who were killed by the US-backed shah regime.
