Kuwait and Iraq support sticking to plans to raise oil output by 400,000 barrels per day (bpd) at an OPEC+ meeting on Thursday, as the U.S. called again for extra supply to cool rising prices.
Kuwait’s Oil Minister Mohammad Abdulatif al-Fares said on Monday that the OPEC member supports the plan to raise output, which would ensure adequate crude supply to balance the global market.

Hafez’s collected works, the Divan-e Hafez, is regarded as a pinnacle of Persian literature. The poet is revered as a folk hero to this day, and people congregate at his tomb, especially at sunset, to pay their respects.

-- Deputy FM: Iran, China Reliable Partners
Iran’s deputy foreign minister for political affairs said Monday Tehran and Beijing, as reliable partners, have common views on the United States’ unlawful and unilateral sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic.
“Iran and China, as reliable partners, share views on the illegal nature of U.S. sanctions and the significance of the rule of law in international relations,” Ali Baqeri-Kani said after a phone call he had with China’s vice-minister of foreign affairs, Ma Zhaoxu.

Iran repeated Monday its insistence its nuclear program is peaceful, two days after the U.S., Britain, France and Germany expressed their “grave” concern on the sidelines of a G20 meeting.
Foreign ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh told reporters here that Western positions are “incompatible with reality and will not bring constructive results”.
The Western statement on Saturday, a joint declaration after bilateral meetings by leaders on the sidelines of the G20 meeting in Rome, followed their discussions of Iran’s offer to resume discussions on reviving the 2015 nuclear deal by removing sanctions on the Islamic Republic.
-- Bazargan Border Point Links Domestic, Int’l Trades
Managing Director of Bazargan Customs Mojtaba Bazgir said on Monday that in first seven months of Iranian year (March 21, 2021 to September 22, 2021), export of goods from this border stood at 86,283,000 tons, showing 64 percent hike comparing the same period of the last Iranian year.
Bazargan as the most active border point in Iran, which is located in West Azarbaijan Province, has turned into the symbol of connecting domestic and foreign trades.
Around 86,000 tons of commodities were exported from Bazargan Border Point within the first half of the Iranian calendar year. The Bazargan Border Point was inaugurated about 95 years ago, performing as transit corridor between Iran and other countries in Asia and Europe.

-- Navy foils pirate attack on Iranian oil tanker
The Iranian naval forces on Monday morning managed to thwart a pirate attack on one of the Iranian oil tankers en route to the Gulf of Aden before entering Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
Four boats carrying between 4 to 6 pirates sought to launch an attack on the Iranian tanker, the Navy said in a statement. However, they were forced to escape after timely response by the Navy’s escort teams, which shot warning shots to repel the pirates, the statement added.
-- Transit of goods via Iran increases 81% in 7 months on year
Transit of goods via Iran has risen 81 percent during the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-October 22), as compared to the same period of time in the past year, the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) announced.
Mehdi Mir-Ashrafi said that 6.948 million tons of goods were transited via the country during the seven-month period. Iran is one of the countries that has a special status in trade and transit relations due to its strategic location and special geography, as the country is the passage of several important international corridors.
-- New archaeological season begins at Douzlakh Salt Mine
The fifth round of archaeological season has recently commenced at Douzlakh Salt Mine, northwestern Zanjan province, where some ancient salt men and their belongings have been found. The project is being carried out in collaboration with German experts and scholars of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Zanjan’s tourism chief has announced.
Project goals include revealing the dark corners of the lives of ancient miners, as well as valuable details about the technology and culture of the inhabitants of the Sassanid and Achaemenid periods, Amir Arjmand said, CHTN reported on Monday.
