Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s Parliament speaker emphasizing need for broadening economic cooperation with Venezuela said here on Monday that It is the Iranian and Venezuelan governments and parliament’s duty to provide for proximity between the two countries’ private sectors.

Qalibaf made the comment in a meeting with the visiting Venezuelan Foreign Minister Félix Plasencia Gonzales at the venue of the Iranian Parliament.

During the meeting, the Iranian Parliament speaker referred to the joint objective of the two governments and nations, and said, "The two countries' political relations are at a satisfactory level, so we need to try to improve our economic ties to match them."

"Although the geographical distance has made the job a little tough, but keeping in mind the high spirit of cooperation in both sides such problems will be first alleviated and then resolved," he added.

He said that the Islamic Republic of Iran has valuable experience in encountering the US sanctions and it is the two countries’ parliaments and governments to provide for proximity between the two countries’ private sector companies and provide for their cooperation in tourism, agriculture and technical and engineering cooperation.

Qalibaf, meanwhile, invited the Venezuelan Parliament speaker to have an official visit to Iran.

The Venezuelan foreign minister, too, said in the meeting that his country’s officials have a strong will for evermore expansion of comprehensive bilateral ties with Iran.

“For the Venezuelan government it is very important that the two countries parliaments have close relation, and therefore the two countries’ parliament speakers will hopefully meet in near future,” he said.

Plasencia Gonzales said that Venezuela is interested in strengthening the bilateral economic relations, and to reach that end Venezuela will sponsor the next session of the Iran-Venezuela Joint Economic Commission.
