Irandoost’s side defied history and their world ranking of 72 to secure their place for India 2022 in dramatic fashion, ending a heartbroken Jordan outfit’s bid for a third successive appearance at the Finals.
Goalkeeper Zohreh Koudaei was the hero for Iran, saving two penalties in the shootout to secure a milestone result for Iranian women’s football, and one which also keeps them in the race for a spot in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, AFC reported.
Through its 5-0 winning over Bangladesh, Iranian women entered the Asian tournament powerfully.
Success for Iran's female athletes is not limited to football and Asian Cup; the Iranian women in recent years have shined at the world contests.

Also, Iran's Mansourian sisters well-known to the world for their Wushu capabilities have brought several gold and other colorful medals from the world competitions to the country.
Surely, there are many other names of Iranian women, who have got gold medals and have shined at the world competitions and Olympic and Paralympic games, but their names are not mentioned here.
