This would the first meeting between the leaders of the two neighboring countries, Iran and Pakistan, after the victory of Ebrahim Raisi in the presidential election and the beginning of the 13th government.
Pakistan’s Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain explaining the agenda of the Prime Minister's visit to Tajikistan today and attending the Shanghai Summit said that Imran Khan was scheduled to meet with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the sidelines of the summit to discuss deepening bilateral relations and latest developments in Afghanistan.
"The meeting with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin was also finalized, but due to his quarantine, this meeting was postponed," he added.
The Pakistani Prime Minister will also meet with the President of China and other leaders of the countries present at the Shanghai Summit.
"Reviewing the situation in Afghanistan will be an important issue and a priority on the agenda of the Shanghai leaders, and we are working to contribute to peace and stability in Afghanistan, along with other neighbors and regional actors," he said.
"Imran Khan's visit to Tajikistan is a major step towards expanding co-operation with Central Asian countries," he said.
The 21th SCO Summit kicks off today in the Tajik capital, Dushanbe, with senior representatives from member and observer states.
