London, IRNA – Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative in Vienna Kazem Gharibabadi warned the UN nuclear watchdog that any counterproductive action could disrupt the talks on the possible revival of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.

“@iaeaorg  cannot disassociate itself from the destiny of the JCPOA,” Gharibabadi tweeted Thursday, warning that “Any counterproductive action disrupts the negotiation process.”

The diplomat also said:

Of course, I hope that wisdom prevails in the BoG next week:

- cooperation for cooperation

- goodwill for goodwill

- action for action.

Gharibabadi also emphasized that depoliticization, impartiality, independence, and professionalism were essential for the credibility of the IAEA and member states’ trust in its work.

“The Agency should plan for increasing cooperation and interaction with its MS’s rather to incept mistrust,” Iranian envoy stressed.

The seasonal meeting of Board of Governors of the IAEA is set to be held on Monday in Vienna, Austria.

IAEA chief Rafael Grossi reported to the Board of Governors last Tuesday that its inspections in Iranian nuclear facilities had decreased significantly and faced serious limitations.

However, Iran has made it clear that all of its nuclear activities were in compliance with the NPT and Iran’s commitments under safeguards agreements.
