Mahabad, IRNA – Iranian border guards, along with firefighters, put out a large bushfire along the Iranian border with Iraq near Piranshahr, western Iran on Monday, according to a border guard official.

Colonel Sadeq Rostamzadeh said that the border guardsmen were patrolling along the joint border that they reported a fire approaching from Iraq.    

The local officials stepped in as soon as possible to control the situation, the official added.

He noted that the Iranian border guards and the fire fighters managed to extinguish the fire after 12 hours of heavy battle with the blaze.

No one was damaged in the fire and it left little damages to natural resources, Rostamzadeh further noted.
