Islamabad, June 14, IRNA -- Head of Mass Communication and Media Department of Pakistan’s Gift University and Director of Iran’s Culture Center in Lahore have stressed the need to develop media cooperation between the two brotherly countries in a bid to confront the discriminatory view of Western media.

Tahir Malik also a prominent journalist during a meeting with Director Khana-e-Farhang Jafar Ronas on Monday called for enhanced ties between Iran and Pakistan by taking advantage of common capacities, especially in the field of media and communications.

In the meeting, he discussed the media cooperation between Iran and Pakistan for the development of cultural, artistic and tourism relations.

Tahir Malik, with 30 years of experience in the field of media and presenter of the political program of Pakistan Tv Channel GNN, referring to the need for media cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran, said unfortunately, most news sources of Pakistani networks and newspapers about Iran's developments are Western news agencies.

He stressed the need for news exchanges between Iran and Pakistan to better understand the developments between the two countries and added the two countries have countless capacities in this field, which unfortunately have not been used so far.

The journalist was of the view the exchange of delegations of journalists and media officials from Pakistan to Iran and vice versa could reflect the existing capacities between the two countries in political, cultural, economic and tourism areas.

He also praised the activities of Iranian Culture Centers in different cities of Pakistan, especially in Lahore.

Director of Iran’s Culture Center in Lahore Jafar Ronas expressing the importance of the role of electronic and print media in Pakistan for the development of relations between the two countries said western and Zionist media try to tarnish the image of Iran and Pakistan at the international level with false propaganda.

He added only some selective news of the two countries are promoted and spread by the Western media mafia, in a false manner.

Jafar Ronas also called for more interaction and cooperation between the Iranian and Pakistani media and said ways to establish a direct connection between the media of the two countries will be feasible and put on the agenda.

For this purpose, he will be visiting the Lahore Press Club in coming days.
