Tehran, June 8, IRNA - Senior Assistant to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs Ali-Asghar Khaji and the United Nations Special Envoy on Yemen Martin Griffiths held talks on the latest developments in Yemen on Tuesday.

During the meeting, they discussed Yemen's latest political situation particularly Griffiths' recent visit to Sana'a, developments in Ma'rib Governorate, the need to lift the economic barrier of the people, ways to restore peace and stability in the country, as well as the elimination of potential oil spill risks from the floating storage and offloading unit (FSO) Safer vessel.

Khaji has presented Iran's initiative to eliminate the risk of oil spills and environmental pollution, and also expressed readiness for the Islamic Republic of Iran to help bring peace to Yemen.

For his part, Griffiths outlined the UN's efforts to resolve the Yemen crisis.
