Tehran, June 2, IRNA – Iranian mission in the United Nations and nine other missions, including China and Russia, will hold a conference on Thursday on the impact of sanctions and unilateral coercive measures on people.

The conference was proposed by Iran and welcomed by several other countries which will co-host the event on Thursday. The invitation letters have been sent to all missions in the United Nations.

Unilateral coercive measures seriously impact social-economic improvement of developing countries and violates their people’s right to proper life, the letter reads.

It also blames unilateral coercive measures like sanctions to be depriving people of, among other things, proper sanitation and medical goods.

Even the coronavirus pandemic and the ensuing economic and social condition have failed to mitigate the situation as these measures have increased even further despite demands by international bodies, the invitation letter adds.

The conference is aimed at strengthening collective efforts of the world community to put an end to unilateral coercive measures and increase awareness on their negative consequences on human rights.
