Dezful, Dec 22, IRNA - An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale shook the Iranian city of Saland, Khuzestan Province on Sunday.

According to the Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the earthquake occurred at 02:57 p.m. local time (11:27 GMT) and at the depth of 10 km underground.

No report has been so far released on the possible casualties or damages.

Iran sits on major faultlines and is prone to near-daily earthquakes.

Saland city is located in the southwest of Iran.
