Niasti grabbed the Saint George's statue of the 41st Moscow International Film Festival.
She received the award for her role in ‘Sophomore Year of My School’ directed by Rasoul Sadr Ameli.
The best foreign film award was granted to Georgian rival.
Italy also received the best director’s award.
This is while, South Korean director snatched jury’s award.
Over 200 movies participated in the event.
The Moscow International Film Festival is the film festival which was first held in Moscow in 1935 and became regular since 1959.
From its inception to 1959 it was held every second year in July, alternating with the Karlovy Vary festival. The festival has been held annually since 1995.
The movie narrates the story of Mahtab and Ava who are college sophomores.
They together with some of their classmates go on a few-day trip from Tehran to Isfahan.
Three years ago Iranian movie ‘Daughter’ directed by Reza Mirkarimi received three awards of best movie, best male actor and the audience categories of the Moscow International Film Festival.
‘Daughter’ was screened in the Competition section at the Moscow International Film Festival 2016 and International Film Festival of India 2016. It won the Golden Peacock Award for the Best Film at International Film Festival of India 2016.
