According to the statement Omar Ayub Khan said this during a meeting with Iranian Delegation led by Managing Director of Tavanir Company Ali Asghar Esmaielnia in Islamabad.
Talking to the delegation, the Minister said Pakistan and Iran share common approach toward a number of bilateral and regional issues. He said the government of Pakistan values its relations with the government of Islamic Republic of Iran.
He said currently Pakistan is importing 104MW power from Iran, the tariff for which expired in December, 2016. He appreciated Tavanir for supplying uninterrupted power supply to Pakistan.
The Managing Director Tavanir appreciated the efforts of Pakistani side to further boost cooperation between the two countries. Tavanir is Iran Power Generation and Transmission Company.
Iran and Pakistan signed a first export agreement of 34 megawatts, about 16 years ago, in 2002, and then increased to 74 megawatts, now increasing to 100 megawatts.
A 220 kV transmission line is also under construction in the Chabahar area, which, if completed, could increase electricity exports to Pakistan and Gwadar to 300 megawatts.
Iran currently exports 100 megawatts of electricity to Pakistan via a 132 kV transmission line from Sikh Gurk, Sistan and Baluchistan to the Mend district of Pakistan.
There are also about four megawatts of electricity supplied to Pakistan via the two 20 kV lines in the Mirjaveh and Saravan area.
