Talking to reporters after inaugurating the project in , Dr. Mahmoud Sheikh-Zeinoddin, who is currently the vice president for technology development at Isfahan Science and Technology township said Iran had over the past three decades imported the SPF eggs but is now self-sufficient in production of such eggs. He said the SPF egg production project is now operational at the Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute.

Iran is now capable of producing 100 SPF eggs and the amount is expected to rise to 5.000 in short term after obtaining the expertise.
The eggs would be first used for research centers and then would meet needs of Razi Institute.
The country would export eggs to neighboring states in case international conditions are met. Exports of the product would help Iran get closer to international standards in terms of production
The specific pathogen-free (SPF) chicken eggs are produced through the use of filtered-air positive-pressure (FAPP) poultry housing, critical biosecurity measures and the careful selection of layer flocks. Validated biological assays are utilized to confirm the SPF status of every flock and compliance with USDA memorandum 800.65 and European Pharmacopoeia 5.2.2 guidelines. A quality control sheet documenting this status accompanies each product shipment. This high degree of quality control and technical expertise is continued through product processing, packing and shipping.
