Lebanese based Al-Mayadeen TV quoted Yemeni political leaders who were speaking on condition of anonymity as saying that Yemen Army has fired several Scud missiles against Saudi military sites in order to convey the message to the Saudi regime that it's time to halt airstrikes.
Yemen Army and the Popular Committees (PCs) have fired several Scud missiles at centers in Saudi Arabia.
In the first reported use of a ballistic missile in the conflict, a Scud missile was fired on Saturday morning at the city of Khamees Mushait in the kingdom's southwest.
The area is home to the largest air force base in southern Saudi Arabia, the world's top oil exporter, but there are no oil facilities in the vicinity.
Al Masira, the Houthi group's official channel, confirmed the launch and said it targeted the King Khaled air base.
Saudi airstrikes continue despite progress toward United Nations-backed peace talks planned for Geneva this month, to which both the pro-Saudi groups and the Yemenis have agreed.
The United Nations said on Saturday it would convene the talks on June 14, and renewed a call for a pause in hostilities.
Saudi Arabia’s military aggression against Yemen started on March 26 in a bid to undermine the Houthis and to restore power to the fugitive former president of Yemen, Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, who is a staunch ally of Riyadh.
