Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s finance minister Abdolnasser Hemmati has appointed a woman for the first time as the chief supervisor of the country’s central bank.

Kowsar Yousefi was appointed as Head of the Board Of Supervisors of the Central Bank of Iran on Tuesday.

Iran’s finance ministry said the appointment was in line with the current administrative government’s policy of appointing women to key managerial roles, adding that Yousefi’s appointment in the CBI was a first of its kind in the history of the ministry.
