Semnan, IRNA - Iran’s Agriculture Minister Gholamreza Nouri Ghezeljeh said that the country is to halt imports of wheat in the current Iranian calendar year.

Iran's independency in wheat imports creates food security, which is a great support for basic decisions in the field of diplomacy, Nouri Ghezeljeh said on Friday.

This year, 12 million tons of wheat was purchased and there is no need to import wheat, he added.

Providing wheat and food security encourage officials in various political, social, economic and diplomatic fields, he stated.
