Tehran, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister of the Yemeni National Salvation Government Hussein al-Azi has described the departure of the German frigate Hessen from the Red Sea as a step in the right direction.

In a message posted on X social media network on Sunday, al-Azi considered the departure of the German frigate Hessen from the Red Sea as a positive development, emphasizing that the safety of shipping and the respect for the rights and interests of nations are major concerns for Sanaa and that other countries should have similar respect towards Yemen.

“No one in the world is forced to be hostile to us, and whoever does this would make a big mistake about us and themselves,” he added.

The frigate Hessen was sent to the Red Sea on February 23, 2024, as part of the European Union naval mission "Aspides" for what was called the protection of ships.

It is equipped with anti-aircraft missiles, reconnaissance radar systems, attacking helicopters, and detection systems capable of monitoring 1,000 targets simultaneously.

Germany has announced that it will soon send a new frigate to the Red Sea.
