Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s new Ambassador to Pretoria Mansour Shakib-Mehr has submitted his credentials to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.

During a ceremony held at Mahlamba Ndlopfu - the Official Residence for the President of the Republic of South Africa - in Pretoria on Tuesday, the new ambassador appreciated President Ramaphosa’s support for Iran’s membership in the BRICS group of emerging economies.

The Iranian envoy expressed hope that diplomatic coordination will be made to pave the way for the Iranian president to visit South Africa in the near future, which can be a turning point in bilateral relations.

The South African president, for his part, wished the ambassador success in his new mission, and underlined the need for expanding bilateral ties between the two nations.
