Tehran, IRNA – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has stressed the need for further expansion of relations between Tehran and Baghdad.

Raisi made the remarks in a phone conversation with his Iraqi counterpart Abdul Latif Rashid on Tuesday when the two presidents congratulated each other on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

Referring to the unprecedented Zionist crimes in Gaza Strip, he underscored the religious and human responsibility of all Muslims and all the freedom-seekers across the world to strive to stop the massacre and genocide in the besieged Palestinian territory.

The Iraqi president, for his part, said that Baghdad is eager to give a boost to bilateral relations with Tehran despite efforts by the ill-wishers to disrupt the relations between the two neighbors.

He also believed that instead of helping find a solution to the crisis in Gaza, certain countries seek to further complicate the issue.
