Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s Army issued a statement on Tuesday to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of the former Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Ali Sayyad Shirazi, on April 9th of this year.

The statement emphasized that the ideology of Martyr Sayyad Shirazi remains unforgettable, and his name endures as a symbol of honor.

In honor of the sacrifices made by the martyrs, the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran is committed to preventing any hostile actions against the country, even the slightest ones, as stated in the announcement.

Lieutenant General Sayyad Shirazi was assassinated by the terrorist group Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) on April 10, 1999. He had previously served as the commander of the Army ground forces during the eight-year Iraqi-imposed war against Iran from 1980 to 1988.
