Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Deputy Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare Ali Mohammad Qaderi have participated on behalf of Iran in a ceremony in Iraq to mark the 36th anniversary of Halabja genocide.

The ceremony was also attended by a large number of Iraqi people, officials and the families of the victims.

The Iranian official laid a wreath of flower at the Martyrs’ monument.

On March 16, 1988, the regime of the former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein carried out a major chemical attack on Halabja, in Iraq’s Kurdistan, in what is known as the largest chemical weapons attack directed against a civilian-populated area in history.
