Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s gas production capacity has increased by 8 million cubic meters (mcm) per day after the launch of a new subsea pipeline connecting the sprawling South Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf to the Iranian mainland.

In an interview with IRNA, Nematollah Shahroei, who serves as the contractor for the new pipeline at South Pars Phase 16, said that the phase is currently supplying some 28.3 mcm of gas to the refinery in the mainland. 

He said the operation for the 115-kilometer subsea pipeline took come 15 months with an investment of 160 million euros.
