Tehran, IRNA – A knowledge-based Iranian company has started manufacturing technologically complicated compressors needed in the country's steel industry amid restrictions on imports of such machines because of Western sanctions.

Hamidreza Astaneh, the managing director of Pishgaman Sanaye Asia (translated into English as Asian Industries Pioneers), said that the company has produced two types of compressors as well as their industrial parts which are used in the reduction process in the steel industry, said an IRNA report on Monday, citing a press release from Iranian Presidency Office’s department for scientific, technological and knowledge-based economy affairs.

Astaneh explained that only three American, German and Japanese companies had been able to produce steel industry compressors and their parts whose manufacturing requires a high-level technical knowhow and advanced technology.

He said that the Iranian industries using those products have been able to continue their activities despite sanctions in place that prohibit their purchase from from foreign suppliers.

Astaneh also said that his company has created nearly 180 jobs, including 55 direct jobs, with the launch of manufacturing process for the compressors.
