Tehran, IRNA - An Israeli media outlet has reported a powerful explosion near an oil refinery in the port city of Haifa in the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories.

According to the Hebrew-language daily Maariv, a strong explosion took place in the vicinity of the Haifa oil refinery on Sunday.

Officials at the Haifa refinery claimed that the incident had been caused by a blast inside the facility, saying the incident had caused no threat to the workers and the Israeli settlers residing in Haifa.

More information about the massive explosion has not yet been released by the Israeli regime officials.

Last Sunday, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq took responsibility for a missile strike against the Haifa port city where some important centers and military command headquarters of the Israeli regime are located.

Lebanon’s resistance movement Hezbollah has also targeted Haifa as part of its attacks meant to retaliate the occupying regime’s onslaught in the Gaza Strip.

Both the Islamic Resistance in Iraq and Lebanon's Hezbollah have vowed to continue targeting the positions of the United States and the Israeli regime in support of the oppressed Palestinian nation.
