Tehran, IRNA - Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amirabdollahian has departed for Kuwait to express condolences and solidarity with the government and people of Kuwait following the demise of that country's emir.

Amirabdollahian departed Tehran for Kuwait on Sunday on behalf of President Ebrahim Raisi to extend the Iranian government’s condolences on the passing of the late Emir, Emir Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah.

Sheikh Nawaf died on Saturday at the age of 86.

During his visit, the Iranian foreign minister will emphasize the necessity of expanding current friendly relations between the two sides in all areas in meetings with Kuwait's senior officials.
