Tehran, IRNA – A top Palestinian politician has announced that the resistance movement Hamas is prepared to exchange all Palestinian prisoners with all Israeli captives.

According to the Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper, Former Minister of Youth and Sports of Palestine Basem Naim said in a news conference in the South African capital city Cape Town early on Thursday that Hamas is ready to release all Israeli captives in exchange for all Palestinian prisoners.

The top Hamas official added that they support the continuation of talks to reach an agreement on the extension of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The temporary truce came to an end on early Thursday local time in Gaza, but diplomatic efforts to extend the cessation of hostility between the Israeli regime and the Palestinian resistance movements will continue.

Meanwhile, Hamas issued a statement on Thursday morning, announcing that the Israeli regime did not accept releasing a number of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for seven Israeli captive women and children and three dead bodies.

According to Shehab News Agency, the statement added that the occupying regime refused the Palestinian proposal for the release of seven Israeli women and children and the dispatch of three Israeli corpses in return for the extension of the ceasefire.

Hamas announced that Israeli corpses belong to those captives, who were killed during the regime’s bombardments of the Gaza Strip.

Israeli security officials claimed that Hamas changed the number of captives to be released, so they cannot accept it. The security cabinet of the regime did not reach any consensus on a new prisoner swap deal during their last meeting.

The Palestinian resistance movements kicked off an attack on October 7 against the Israeli regime in retaliation for their crimes against the oppressed nation, which is dubbed Operation Al-Aqsa Storm. Then, the occupying regime started relentless bombing of the Gaza Strip and killed over 15k Palestinians, mostly women and children.
