Rasht, IRNA – Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Iran’s Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, has said that the addition of the Deylaman destroyer to Iran’s northern naval fleet will enhance sustainable safety in the Caspian Sea.

The announcement was made during a ceremony held in the northern Iranian port city of Bandar Anzali on Monday.

He termed the Caspian Sea as "a sea of peace and friendship", adding that the Islamic Republic enjoys amicable all-out military relations with all the Caspian Sea littoral states.

Iran’s highest-ranking military commander added that the destroyer has been designed and built in the toughest situation when the country is under unilateral sanctions.

The commander described the achievement as "a great masterpiece" in the history of the country’s Navy fleet.

Deylaman, the 5th destroyer in the Jamaran class, weighs 1,500 metric tons and boasts numerous advantages over its predecessors.

This indigenous defense accomplishment is particularly powerful in terms of detection, interception, and rescue capabilities.
