Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has reviewed the “disastrous consequences” of the Balfour Declaration on its 160th anniversary.

In an article published in the Iran newspaper, Amirabdollahian said the occupation of Palestine and the formation of the fake, apartheid Zionist regime are among the repercussions of the ominous declaration.

The following is the translation of the full text of the article:

November 2 is the 160th anniversary of the ominous, shameful declaration by then-British foreign secretary Arthur James Balfour. It was a brief block of text that has brought disastrous consequences such as the occupation of Palestine and the formation of the fake, apartheid Zionist regime, the massacre of Palestinians, the genocide of women and children, the expulsion of the native inhabitants of Palestine from their ancestral lands, and the expropriation of their lands.

This abominable declaration brought about the formation of a cancerous, illegitimate tumor in the West Asian region, the consequences of which still affect the people of the region and Palestine after nearly eighty years. The Zionists, with the help of their Anglo-Saxon godfathers and relying on feigning history and victim-playing, have brought a crisis upon the West Asian region.

Now that the awareness and resistance of the Palestinian people have revealed to the world how far the Zionists go in their cruelty and genocide, it is a good opportunity to revisit the 1917 Nakba Day, that is the day the Balfour Declaration was issued, to find out more about the facets of the subsequent 1948 Nakba.

The Balfour Declaration expresses the British government’s sympathy and agreement with the wishes and aspirations of international Zionism to establish the so-called national home for the Zionists in Palestine. This declaration, published in 1917 in the midst of the First World War, was made about 21 years before the start of the Second World War and the subsequent claim of Jewish genocide by the Nazis. So, apparently, the British and their Zionist comrades knew very well what was going to happen in the next two decades!

The existence of the Zionist regime in the Holy Land is based on two distorted and fabricated historical stories. The first tale alleges that the land was promised to the Jewish people (read Zionists) in their holy book. The second tale is founded on the allegation of the genocide of Jews by the Nazis in the World War II.

The two accounts, in particular the second one, consist of the basis for the mass migration of some Jewish people to Palestine and their excuse for the occupation and demolition of the Holy Land, which still continues up to date. It is interesting and even more sad that three years following the Balfour Declaration was issued on November 2, 1917, based on agreements achieved by the conquerors of World War I, the ruling of the Holy Land of Palestine was handed over to Britain; then, the ground was paved for Great Britain's Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour to implement his promises to the Zionists.

It seems simplistic to believe that such historical events were merely a coincidence. For thousands of years, residents of the land of Palestine have been, those who were people of culture, industry, agriculture, and of course religion, but Britain granted the territory to the Zionists based on the Balfour Declaration! During the course of the illegitimate existence of the occupying regime of apartheid and child killing, the Western governments have always attempted to distort realities and propagate disinformation on who is the oppressed and who is the oppressor.

The Zionist regime has always committed crimes with impunity, and whenever people sought justice for Palestinians, the Zionists branded them as anti-Semitic. Newly, after Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, advocates and patrons of the Zionist regime have once again resorted to bombastic rhetoric to distort the facts on the ground and encourage the fake regime to continue its crimes.

What was previously the responsibility of the UK was transferred to this country after the end of World War II and the rise of America in the international system.

The unconditional support of the United States and the United Kingdom to the Zionist regime is the main reason for the failures of the United Nations Security Council in materializing the rights of the Palestinians and the veto of 45 resolutions of this council, the last of which happened recently, during which the United States not only opposed any stop to the crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza. Rather, he refused to abstain on a humanitarian resolution.

In a clear conflict with its false human rights claims, the United States voted against the resolution that was drafted to pave the way to help civilians in Gaza, in order to further express its support for the war crimes in the Gaza Strip.

It is crystal clear that this act will be seen as a typical example of the US turning down basic human principles and international law.

Despite years of guardianship by Britain and then the United States, this fake regime is like an illegitimate child that cannot stand on its knees and must always rely on artificial respiration to continue its disgraceful life.

Undoubtedly, the future belongs to Palestine.
