Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s Minister of Information and Communications Technology Issa Zarepour has said that sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic have barred Iranian users’ access to thousands of websites and services.

In a post on his social media account, Zarepour said programmers, experts, and academics are most affected by the “unilateral” and “cruel” sanctions imposed by the self-styled human rights advocates against Iran.

Nonetheless, some people unknowingly or intentionally claim that this widespread ban has been imposed domestically and even regard it as a “disruption in the network,” he said.

He added that the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology is pursuing efforts to resolve the issue through international channels in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
