Tehran, IRNA - Iranian Foreign Minister in a letter to his vatican counterpart said that today "we are facing a new version of modern brutality in the occupied Palestinian territories".

He pointed out in his letter that under the current critical and decisive moment, supporting and defending the rights and lives of the Palestinian people is the duty of all followers of the Abrahamic religions.

Amirabdollahian wrote a letter on Sunday amid the continuation of the Zionist regime's crimes in Gaza to Paul Richard Gallagher, the Vatican secretary for relations.

"The world needs calmness, peace and morality more than ever. Unfortunately, today we are facing a new face of modern savagery in the occupied Palestinian territories," the top Iranian diplomat wrote in his letter.

Amirabdollahiannpointed out that the horrific crime of the Zionist regime in attacking the Al-Ahli hospital and the bombing of the Saint Porphyrius Church in Gaza, where children and women were sheltering, shows another angle of the savage and fierce nature of the Zionist regime."

"This shows that the Israeli regime practices systematic apartheid not only against Muslims, but against the followers of all Abrahamic religions, including Christians," he added.

"Undoubtedly, the unanimity of Muslims, Christians and Jews in confronting the crimes of the Zionist regime will play an effective role in curbing the extremism of the Zionists, the restoration of peace to the world, and the establishment of moral values," he concluded.
