Raisi made the comment on Saturday during a phone call with Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The two discussed bilateral issues as well as regional developments especially the war in the Gaza Strip.
“Remarks and measures by Zionist officials in recent days are a clear example of war crimes, genocide, and blatant violation of all international treaties,” the Iranian president said, calling for an immediate end to the Zionist regime’s “crimes against humanity”.
Referring to the Al-Aqsa Storm Operation, Raisi said that the Palestinian response is rooted in more than 70 years of occupation and desecration of sanctities by the Zionist regime.
The president added that the regime’s authorities have cut off water and power to the defenseless people of Gaza and banned imports of food and medicines to take revenge for the humiliating defeat they faced on battle field.
The new generation of the Palestinians have risen up to demand their violated rights following decades of crimes, bloodshed and destruction, Raisi said, adding that the “Zionists and their supporters” should realize that oppression and aggression would never stop Palestinians in pursuing their rights.
He also said that the US and other supporters of the Zionist regime are directly responsible for the crimes against the Palestinian people.
The situation in Palestine is a clear example of the double standard approach by the West when it comes to human rights, the president noted.
The Qatari Emir on his part called for Tehran-Doha cooperation to help immediately stop the Zionist regime’s crimes against the people of Gaza and uphold the rights of the Palestinian people.
He also criticized Western media for their “wrong” covering of developments in the region, saying that efforts should be made to show the world what is really happening on the ground.
Hamad Al Thani said that stability in the region will not be achieved unless the rights of the Palestinian nation are upheld, adding that the world is now witnessing the catastrophic behaviors of the Zionist regime, an example of which is the forced migration of people from their homes in Gaza.
