Moscow, IRNA – Iran’s Oil Minister, Javad Owji, and the Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee of Russia, Alexey Miller, have held discussions in Moscow to strengthen bilateral energy ties.

The talks were held in the Russian capital on Wednesday.

During the talks, Owji expressed optimism about establishing an energy hub with Russia in southern Iran. He also noted the launch of the Iran-Russia natural gas corridor through neighboring countries as a positive step towards regional cooperation.

Miller, on the other hand, stated that Gazprom, Russia’s state company, is ready to initiate new collaborations with Iran.

This aligns with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s earlier announcement about enhancing energy ties with Iran, a move that was welcomed by the Iranian oil minister.

Owji is currently in Moscow to participate in the international forum of the Russian Energy Week from October 12-14.
