-- Iran’s six-month trade exceeds $54b: IRICA

Iran’s foreign trade surpassed $54 billion during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21-September 22), witnessing a 4.84 percent growth compared with the same period in 2022, announced Mohammad Rezvanifar, the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration.
The Islamic Republic’s foreign trade was nearly at $54.6 billion in the first half of the current Iranian year, Rezvanifar noted.

--  US senators have confirmed rise in Iran’s oil output, exports: Owji

US senators and Western media have confirmed the increase in Iran’s oil production and exports despite sanctions over the past two years, said Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji.
Production and exports of oil products and gas condensates are on the rise thanks to the unflinching efforts of the Oil Ministry’s staff, Shana quoted the minister as saying.

-- Iran to deal with huge presence of Afghan migrants

Iranian parliamentarian Fadahossein Maleki said a program is underway to deal with the huge presence of Afghan refugees in the country. “We are seriously pursuing efforts to organize them,” Maleki said, IFP reported. This comes as public concern has grown over the huge presence of Afghan refugees in Iran, especially after the Taliban group took power in Afghanistan in 2021.

People argue that the presence of Afghan nationals has not only increased costs of public services, but also undermined security in the country. Last week Ahmad Vahidi, the Iranian Interior Minister said currently there are five million Afghans in Iran. The influx of Afghan refugees into Iran sped up following the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan almost two years ago.

--  Iran’s ‘The Notch’ Wins Tirana’s Best Film Award

Iranian short film “The Notch”, directed by Mina Sadati, has received the best film award at the Tirana International Film Festival (TIFF) in Albania. “The Notch” was screened at the PANORAMA Competition section of the Tirana International Film Festival (TIFF) in its first international presence.
Marjan Ettefaghian, Nima Abedi Khiabani, Ahura Gilani, and Jalal Abbas Nia are the cast of the film. The Tirana International Film Festival (TIFF) was held on September 23-29. It is an Academy Awards qualifying film festival and one of the major annual events taking place in Tirana each year. It was the first international cinema festival in Albania.

--  TURKSTAT: Turkey-Iran Trade Reaches $3.5bn

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) in its latest report has announced that the trade exchange of Turkey with Iran from January to August 2023 hit $3.490. The trade exchanges between the two country in the first eight months of the current year reached about $3.5 billion, registering a 19 percent decline compared to the same period last year.

This is while that the volume of trade exchanges between the two countries from January to August 2022 stood at $4.330.
 

-- Sabalan Equipped With 12 Anti-Ship Cruise Missiles 

Iran’s Navy chief Rear Admiral Shahram Irani said Sunday his forces have managed to furnish the Sabalan destroyer with 12 anti-ship cruise missiles, breaking the record for the number of guided missiles installed on Iranian vessels.

Speaking to Tasnim news agency, Irani said that the missile-equipped destroyer will be unveiled soon. Sabalan is an Alvand-class frigate of the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy. It was damaged in an encounter with the US Navy in the Persian Gulf during the 1980s Iraqi-imposed war.

-- Best of Iranian movies, series receive Hafez awards

The 22nd film and television ceremony of Picture World Magazine (also known as Hafez Awards) was held in Tehran on Saturday and the best of cinema and series were awarded.

At the beginning of the program, noted actor, screenwriter and stage director Behzad Farahani was honored for a lifetime of artistic career in performing arts and received the Hafez Statuette.

--  Iran, Belarus to hold 16th Joint Economic Committee meeting next week

The 16th Iran-Belarus Joint Economic Committee meeting is scheduled to be held in Tehran on October 9-10, the portal of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) reported.

In a meeting between TPO Head Mehdi Zeyghami and Belarusian Ambassador to the Islamic Republic Dmitry Koltsov on Sunday, the two sides discussed the preparations for the holding of the mentioned meeting.

-- Al-e Ahmad’s paternal house: a must-go, as soon as restoration ends

The paternal house of Jalal Al-e Ahmad, who was a prominent Iranian novelist, short-story writer, translator, and philosopher of the 20th century, has undergone restoration, promising a new cultural center for Tehran is on the horizon.

The two-story house might be a must-visit destination for culture travelers and a favorite hangout for literature enthusiasts who may conjure up the early life of Al-e Ahmad in its every corner.
