Tehran, IRNA - Iran’s nuclear chief has met a Brazilian delegation in Vienna, with both sides calling for development of peaceful nuclear cooperation.

During the meeting on Tuesday, Mohammad Eslami, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), exchanged views with the Brazilian delegation and the country's permanent representative in Vienna.

Both sides emphasized the need for cooperation in various areas of peaceful nuclear technology.

Iran and Brazil have a long history of cooperation in various areas and both have extensive peaceful nuclear programs.

As members of the BRICS group of emerging economies, Iran and Brazil share common perspectives on the importance of multilateralism and countering unilateralism.

On Monday, Eslami also met with Rafael Grossi, the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna.

Iran’s nuclear chief asked Grossi to maintain the neutrality and professionalism of his agency, and warned against efforts by the West to use the IAEA to mount pressure on Iran.

Eslami is in Vienna to participate in the annual meeting of the IAEA’s General Conference.
